Editorial Policy
Who writes the guides
Every guide is published under the LearnHubPlay name, and LearnHubPlay is responsible for what it says. LearnHubPlay is a small independent studio in Amsterdam, registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KVK 97741825), and it also designs and builds the apps mentioned on this site. The editorial team page lists every guide.
What we cover, and why
We publish practical guides in seven topics: Focus & Deep Work, Notes & Research, Habits & Routines, AI at Work, Websites & AI Crawlers, Screen Recording & Tutorials, and Mac Care. They are the problems that come up when you build and use productivity software: where attention goes, where notes and browser tabs get lost, which habits survive a bad week, how to use AI without trusting it blindly, how AI crawlers read a website, how to record a tutorial people finish, and how to keep a Mac healthy.
We write about a subject when we can give a reader something to act on: a decision table, a template, a worked example, a procedure we have checked. We skip subjects where we would only repeat what the first page of search results already says.
How we research
- Primary sources first. For research findings we read the paper or its abstract rather than a news summary. For software we use the vendor’s own documentation, and for standards the standard itself.
- Sources listed at the end.Every guide closes with a “Sources and further reading” section that lists what supports its claims, so you can check our work.
- Instructions checked against current software. Menu paths, keyboard shortcuts, commands, and settings are checked against current versions. When steps differ between versions, the guide says which versions they apply to.
- Contested evidence is flagged as contested. When a finding has failed to replicate, rests on a small sample, or is still disputed, the guide says so and explains what that means for the advice. When we cite a study we name it and, where it matters, give its type and size.
- Hypothetical examples are labeled. We do not present invented scenarios as real cases.
How we use AI
We use AI tools to help research, outline, and draft. Before a guide is published, its claims are checked against the primary sources listed at the end of it, and LearnHubPlay is responsible for its accuracy. We don't publish AI-generated statistics, quotes, testimonials, or images of people, and we don't use invented personas.
The abstract cover art on guide pages is drawn by code from each guide’s topic. It is decorative and does not illustrate real people or events.
Product mentions and independence
We build software, so we have a conflict of interest: it would be easy to write guides that quietly sell our apps. We guard against that in three ways. Guides mention our own apps only where one is relevant to the point being made. When one is mentioned, the guide says that we build it. And every method in a guide works without our apps; many guides do not mention an app at all. We do not call our apps the best of anything, and we do not quote prices in guides. The full list, with an honest status for each, is on the apps page.
Advertising
LearnHubPlay shows advertisements served by Google AdSense. Advertisers have no influence on what we write, how we describe things, or what we publish, and we do not publish sponsored posts. How advertising cookies work, and how to opt out of personalized ads, is explained in the privacy policy.
Updates
A guide shows the date it was first published. We add an “Updated” date only for a substantive change: a corrected claim, a new or replaced source, steps that changed because the software changed, or a new section. Fixing a typo or rewording a sentence does not change the date.
Corrections
If you find a mistake, email admin@learnhubplay.nl with the address of the page, what is wrong, and a source if you have one. We review every report and fix confirmed errors. When a correction changes what a reader would do or believe, we note it on the page instead of changing the text silently. Typos and broken links are fixed without a note.
